Jan has been a proud member of Grand Harmony chorus since 2006. She was introduced to Barbershop music at a very young age. Her father sang baritone with the Georgian Gentlemen and also sang in a quartet. Her sister, sister-in-law, and niece are also members of Sweet Adelines. They enjoy quartetting whenever they can.
Jan started singing at age five when she joined the junior choir at church. She went on to join the intermediate choir and then the senior choir. She had voice lessons with Gladys Latham from age 12 until she got married and moved to Kitchener. She also participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival as a soloist, starting at the age of six.
Jan started as a lead when she joined Grand Harmony Chorus. She recently switched to the baritone part and is really enjoying it!
